If you knew that by simply taking the necessary steps, that there would be no barrier towards you having ‘total certainty’ towards creating a sustainable artist business, would you want to find out what the steps were?

As I write this, I’m imagining you shouting out a resounding YES!

It would definitely be YES if you also realized that no matter:

-What your background is

-What genre of music you create

-Where in the world you live

Before I go on, let me tell you a little bit about myself, for you to fully understand why I’m qualified to make such bold statements.

I'VE BEEN THERE AND I'VE DONE IT

Before I outline my vision and mission, here is a very brief overview of my journey to now.

A journey that, in many ways, mirrors the struggle we all face in our quest for greatness.

In September 2008, I decided that I would never be able to achieve the things I wanted to achieve nor make the impact in the world I wanted to make, by being a part of my family bakery business and so I embarked on a journey to find a pathway to make a positive impact in the world.

With some consideration, I decided that the music business would be the place where I could do this.

I didn't know anything about the music business, but my logic was simple: music is arguably one of the most powerful forms of communication on earth and so if I could make a positive wave in the music business, I could make a positive impact in the world itself.

On commencing the journey, I didn't like what I saw; quite frankly the music business was a dark, unethical and unfair place.

It was a machine that chewed up and spat out artists, stifling creativity and prioritizing profit over people.

I knew that I didn’t want to operate in this way and that it was time to find a way to help artists to ‘Escape The Machine’.

I invested several years into understanding everything I could about the inner workings of the music business, including working both independently and with the major record labels, as well as the traditional music business players (agents, managers, promoters etc.), to a place where I believed I had a business model for a better way.

I'VE BEEN THEN AND I'VE DONE IT

My unique approach to the music industry has already achieved remarkable results.

The work I did with UK alt rock band The Hunna is widely seen as pioneering throughout the entire music industry.

The results that myself and my team orchestrated were beyond anything ever done before and have not been repeated since.

By anyone..

…even the might of the major labels could not and have not achieved such results.

In a timespan of just two years, starting at zero with not a single fan in place we:

  • Played to a crowd of 10,000 in London.

  • Racked up 338 million streams on Spotify and 100s of millions across Apple Music / YouTube Music / Amazon Music.

  • Sold 85,000 tickets across the United Kingdom.

  • Sold 60,000 physical albums, across both vinyl and CD.

  • Secured media placements on major radio stations like BBC Radio 1.

  • Secured synchronization placements in major global advertising campaigns.

The magnitude of the results we achieved is hard to fully grasp.

It's not just about the spectacular numbers; it's about the fact that everything we did was by design.

It was all part of a process that I have now defined in the High Time: Artist Success Pathway.

This innovative and pioneering new approach was a big threat to the specific players within the music business and so at the end of 2018, my time working with this band was done.

Since my time working with the band came to a close, I’ve sold over 30,000 copies of my eBook ‘Zero to Record Breaker’, using the exact same methodology I did with The Hunna directly in building my own personal brand.

I've personally undertaken over five thousand 1-1 video calls with artists and people who work with artists.

This has given me a deep understanding of what artists need and how to help them succeed.

Further, I’ve dedicated myself to fully backwards engineering my own process, while adding to it through over 10,000 hours of focused study of the world´s best and most successful minds across marketing, business and entrepreneurship.

All of this experience, knowledge, and success has led me to this moment.

The moment where I am ready to do the impossible over and over again.

It’s a bold statement to put out there that my mission is to build the biggest and fairest music company in the world, but as I write this letter for you now, I truly believe that this is not only possible, but that I know how to make it a reality.

And now I’m bringing all of this experience and knowledge to you.

HIGH TIME: BUILDING THE BIGGEST AND FAIREST MUSIC COMPANY IN THE WORLD!

In the last two years of my journey, I have had my head down figuring out the missing pieces of the jigsaw puzzle towards making this big mission become a reality.

The roadmap for the next five years will create some hugely significant moments, such as:

  • Artists themselves having the chance to own equity in High Time.

  • Artists being selected for partnership based exclusively on great music and on their ‘people metrics’ with zero consideration for their ‘vanity metrics’ - in other words, artists will be selected on metric of the talent they possess and their qualities as a human being… without having to go viral or compromise their artistic integrity.

  • More and more artists will be breaking through the High Time ecosystem every single year, with the first artist partnership launching in May 2024 with the objective of achieving arenas on a global scale within 3 years.

  • High Time will go public in year five with a minimum valuation of $10B, at which point more artists will break on a global scale through the High Time ecosystem than through all three major record labels combined.

When this mission becomes a reality, not only will artists who are part of the ecosystem have a fair and equitable partnership with High Time, but every human on earth will be connected towards making the vision a reality:

“To connect with every human on earth through what is undoubtedly one of the most powerful mediums of connection between us all: music, with the sole objective of lifting every individual's level of consciousness towards the realization that the world's problems can be solved through art; the byproduct of human creativity.”

To make this vision a reality, we have to expand our perspective and definition of who an 'artist' is towards a place that is more aligned to my own definition:

"Any person who has an idea they feel truly passionate about, so much so, that they must make it a reality.

They have the courage, bravery, insight, creativity and tenacity to challenge the status quo.

They make it their personal mission to make this happen and in the process create 'art' that is appreciated by not only the creator themselves but equally by the receivers."

The truth is that as creative beings, we all have the capability of becoming artists and as such contribute towards making the world a better place for all of us.

THE HIGHTIME:

ARTIST SUCCESS PATHWAY

In my experience, most artists are stuck in a cycle that's not serving them well.

They're doing things like:

  • Releasing music that isn’t commercially viable or ready for release… and worse they’re spending huge amounts of capital in making recordings of songs that simply are not ready to be recorded.

  • Pouring time and money into social media strategies that are outdated or ineffective. The algorithms are constantly changing, and what worked yesterday might not work today.

  • Going live every single week on platforms like Instagram or Facebook, hoping that this time, people will finally start buying their music or merchandise.

  • Setting up complex marketing funnels or websites that are hard to maintain and don't necessarily lead to more sales or fan engagement.

  • Marketing to people who aren't ready to buy... they're trying to sell to casual listeners who haven't yet become true fans.

  • Focusing on organic growth methods that can take a long time to yield results.

Artists are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things they could be doing, the multitude of voices telling them what they should be doing, and their own misconceptions and preconceived ideas about how to succeed in the music industry.

All of this wastes precious time, energy, and money.

It leaves you feeling lost, and unsure of what you should and shouldn’t do right now.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

There's a better approach to building a sustainable artist business, and that's what I'm here to share with you.

Before I do, I want you to think about the answer to this question:

What's the single most important business move that catapulted The Hunna to their meteoric rise?

I can guess what you’re thinking.

It’s the same thing that everyone in the music industry would tell me when they commented on each and every crazy outcome we achieved along the way…

…such as selling 1000 tickets in London, selling 2,500 tickets in London 3 months later… selling 10,000 tickets a little more than 6 months after that.

“It’s 100% down to one thing Carl…

…it's marketing!”

But, this is not the right answer.

Back then, in the absence of a fully defined reply, I would always respond and say:

“No, that is not correct!

It is EVERYTHING we are doing.

There is not just one function that is generating the outcomes.

It is everything we have done in preparation and everything we are doing in execution.”

Having now had the privilege of time to backwards engineer each and every step, the reason we got the results was because we followed what I now call the High Time: Artist Success Pathway.

A keyword here is that it is a pathway.

This means that it needs to be followed exactly and it needs to be followed sequentially.

Failing to do so, creates a weaker overall proposition and therefore massively reduces your chances of being successful.

PEOPLE METRICS vs VANITY METRICS

With the major record labels obsessed with making a profit, and with all three of them scaling back front line artist development, artists have had no choice but to succumb to the soulless allure of ‘vanity metrics’.

You have to have numbers.

You have to have followers.

You have to have likes.

You have to have streams.

Vanity metrics have become the currency of success and if your numbers are not aligned, then you have to continue to fight against your soul's desire to create art in the hope that the next video you drop on TikTok might be the one that finally goes viral.

The one that finally gets you on their radar.

But let's talk about the elephant in the room—the ever-changing algorithms.

One day you're up; the next, you're not even sure if your music is reaching the ears it's meant for.

It's a game of visibility, often leaving the essence of artistry in the shadows.

Now, let's pause and ponder the real impact of these numbers.

Do they speak to the soul-stirring melodies or the late nights pouring heart into lyrics?

Does being obsessed with vanity metrics lead artists to be able to truly create art that connects with people in a deep and meaningful way?

Does it lead to art that solves the world's problems?

I am sure you’d agree with me that it absolutely does not!

This is why in developing the culture of High Time, we are doing so from a very different outlook vs the traditional system and the major labels themselves.

Instead of being obsessed with vanity metrics, we are obsessed with ‘people metrics’.

A radical shift from the superficial to the substantial.

At High Time, we're not just counting likes; we're measuring impact.

We’re focused on developing artists not just from the point of view of the art they create, but towards them becoming the best version of themselves.

We're looking at how artists grow, not just how they glow on social platforms.

‘People metrics’ dive deep into the essence of an artist.

Your creativity.

Your drive.

Your ambition.

Your ability to touch lives through your art.

It's about aligning with artists who aren't just looking to climb charts but are driven to making a difference.

Because at High Time, that's what we stand for.

Art that resonates, that echoes through the halls of humanity, bringing us together, lifting us higher.

Art that truely solves the world's problems by inspiring fans to understand that they too are artists.

That they too can make a difference.

Fundamentally, by focusing on ‘people metrics’ we know that when an artist is ready to partner with us, that the vanity metrics will take care of themselves.

Welcome to the ‘People Metrics System™’, the heart of High Time—

where you and your artistry is truly seen and nurtured.

With such an innovative new approach to artist development, I knew that the only way to make it work at scale was through developing technology that would allow us to monitor artists in great detail.

For this reason, I’ve spent the past two years developing the framework for what I am now calling the High Time: People Metrics System™.

The High Time: People Metrics System™ is the core component of the High Time Engine—the foundation to artist development within the High Time ecosystem.

The High Time Engine is more than just an artist development system; it's a nurturing ground for potential.

We've integrated the People Metrics System™ into every fiber of the High Time Engine.

Constantly monitoring, constantly supporting.

From the early stages of development to deep into our partnership, we're there.

Our aim?

To help artists grow not just as musicians, but as human beings.

To cultivate the mental fortitude needed to connect with audiences on a profound level.

And when we do form partnerships, our commitment only deepens.

The People Metrics System™ allows us to stay ahead, to foresee challenges before they arise.

Mental health isn't an afterthought; it's a priority.

We're here to provide the support and the love that artists need so they are able to continue making a significant impact.

How do we achieve this?

Through a seamless blend of human insight and cutting-edge technology.

Our advanced algorithm, powered by machine learning and AI, works in harmony with our team's expertise.

Together, they form the backbone of the High Time People Metrics System™.

Every interaction, every task, every moment of growth is observed and nurtured.

This continuous loop of feedback and improvement ensures artists are not only prepared for success but destined for it.

At the foundation of the High Time Engine, is an industry defining program we’ve developed called High Time Engine+ (HTE+).

I’ll talk more about this program shortly, but this is a program that features the High Time: Artist Success Pathway at the core.

It’s a program that is not only focused on developing artists, but also in readying them towards having everything they need in place within their artist business towards creating sustainability.

Further, artists who go through HTE+ (and who meet the People Metrics criteria) have everything in place ready to partner with High Time towards scaling the impact their art makes on a global level.

By the end of their journey with High Time Engine+, artists are not just ready to 'Turn Pro'.

They're ready to change the world.

The People Metrics System™ is our promise to the music industry.

A promise to prioritize the well-being and holistic growth of artists as much as their professional achievements.

Because at High Time, we believe true artistry goes beyond talent.

It's about making a lasting impact, uplifting others, and creating art that echoes through generations.

This is the future we're building.

One where artists are celebrated for their humanity as much as their music.

As we navigate the transformative journey of High Time, I've always envisioned a partnership that transcends the traditional confines of the music industry.

A partnership where artists, fueled by their boundless creativity, find not just a platform but a sanctuary.

A place where the art of creation knows no bounds and the essence of true partnership flourishes.

At High Time, our vision of partnership is steeped in mutual respect and shared values.

It's a union where artists retain the autonomy to sculpt their masterpieces, assured in the knowledge that every aspect of their business is being meticulously maximized.

Imagine a world where your creative pursuits are unencumbered by the financial constraints that too often stifle artistic expression.

With High Time, that world becomes your reality.

You'll never have to dip into your own reserves to fuel your dreams again.

When an artist meets the criteria according to the High Time: People Metrics System™, they will get an offer from us.

When they get an offer, they will know that if they accept it, they will have a partner who will fight for them with the same level of conviction that they will fight with themselves.

When we invest into an artist, we invest on the basis that we ‘know what we have’.

We know we have an artist who has shown us that they are capable of making art that will solve the world's problems.

When we form a partnership with an artist, we do so on the basis that we are with them when the sun is shining.

And we are especially with them when the inevitable storms arrive.

When we invest into an artist, we do so on the basis that we know that in the end, the profits will come, even if it takes longer than we at first anticipated.

We form a partnership with the principle of it being a marriage, one that is sacred and therefore unlike the traditional major label system, it is based on a long term vision and with long term intention.

Our deal structure is the epitome of fairness and equity.

It's designed with the understanding that success is a shared journey, and profits are celebrated together, not apart.

In the nurturing embrace of the High Time Engine, powered by our groundbreaking People Metrics System™, we've created a symbiotic ecosystem.

This system is not just a tool but a beacon of support and growth.

It continuously monitors our artists, both in the crucible of development and in the bloom of partnership.

In these formative stages, it's a guiding light, helping artists to evolve, to build the resilience needed to connect with the world on a profound level.

And as our partnership deepens, this system becomes even more pivotal.

It allows us to anticipate, to be proactive rather than reactive, especially when it comes to the mental well-being of our artists.

The High Time: People Metrics System™, with its sophisticated blend of human insight and AI-driven analysis, ensures that we're always a step ahead.

It's a commitment to not just celebrate your successes but to be there, with support and understanding, during the challenges.

This is the essence of the High Time partnership.

It's about creating art that resonates, that changes the landscape, secure in the knowledge that you have a partner who's invested in your journey, every step of the way.

Imagine stepping into a realm where the rhythm of success is not just about the music you create but the foundation you build beneath it.

That's what High Time Engine+ (HTE+) is all about.

Over a six-month journey, we'll lay down the cornerstone of your artistic career, ensuring every note you play resonates with purpose and every melody carries the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

HTE+ is more than a program; it's a pathway towards elite level transformation.

Designed meticulously with the High Time: Artist Success Pathway, this program is your blueprint for turning potential into reality.

HTE+ is delivered in cohorts of 30 artists over zoom, so you’re not limited geographically in being able to participate.

It’s also a combination of done with you and done for you, meaning that some components will need your input, while others will be entirely taken care of without you having to do it yourself.

We're not just aiming for fleeting moments of success; we're crafting a legacy.

This program is intensive, and rightfully so.

At the same time, it’s also a program that has a simple and easy to follow process, that doesn’t require you to commit more than a few hours each week to it in order to keep up.

The world doesn't need more musicians; it needs artists who dare to dream bigger, reach further, and impact deeper.

HTE+ is for those ready to embrace this challenge, ready to redefine the very essence of success in the music industry.

I've seen what's possible when talent meets tenacity.
